Kergroadez history

1913 > first restoration

In 1889, Valentine Mevel, the heiress of the part of the field including/understanding the castle, married the Brest-native ship-owner Julien Chevillotte.

Become owners, the Chevillotte husbands residing at Plougonvelin with the castle of Kervasdoué, decided towards 1910 to undertake the complete restoration of the castle of Kergroadez, whose ruins were very well preserved.

The building site begins on April 20, 1913 and the release of the First World War in August 1914 is not likely to facilitate the conditions of the completion of the building site of Kergroadez, the more so as the Freyssinet architect was mobilized. The winter 1914 gives the opportunity to note various escapes in the new roofs, and the contractor cannot answer it, the majority of the roofers being mobilized.
